Phone altitude is influenced by satellite geometry, signal conditions, device sensors, and the surrounding environment. Crestline shows measurement accuracy and signal state so you can distinguish a current reading from a weak or outdated one. It is a recreational field tool, not a surveying, aviation, emergency, or certified measurement instrument.

Open iOS Settings, choose Privacy & Security, then Location Services, Crestline, and select While Using the App. For the best location and true-north experience, enable Precise Location. Return to Crestline and the app will check the permission again.

Magnetic north follows the Earth's magnetic field. True north is geographic north and depends on location information. If location access is unavailable, Crestline can fall back to magnetic north when the device supports it.

The fixed top marker represents the front of your iPhone. The dial rotates as you turn: the direction at that marker matches the large heading number. The green needle points north, aligned with N on the dial. TRUE uses true north; MAG uses magnetic north. If true north is unavailable, the page identifies the magnetic-north fallback.

The current heading may be inaccurate. The warning appears in the status area above the reading and remains until subsequent sensor readings indicate a change. While finding a direction, or when no usable heading is available, Crestline shows a dash. If true north is unavailable and magnetic north is used, the page identifies MAG as the active reference. A low-accuracy warning alone does not establish its cause or guarantee recovery. It concerns direction, not altitude accuracy.

Saved to Photos confirms that the exported image is in your photo library. The preview stays open; tap Done to return to Camera, or continue editing and save again. New edits do not replace a previously saved library copy. Leaving unsaved content asks for confirmation; you can cancel and keep editing. An active save must finish before you leave.

When adding or replacing a record photo, Done returns to that record after the association is saved. This does not automatically save a separate copy to Photos. Record changes and photo-library exports have separate completion results.

New record attachments retain their selected watermark style and strength. Record details show the full saved image. Photo sharing rebuilds the same style from the local clean copy using your sharing choices. The existing 4:5 sharing format fits the whole photo without an additional crop. Older attachments without saved style settings continue to use the standard sharing layout; Crestline does not guess their style or overwrite them. The separate protection for older composed photos still applies.

Precise coordinates are off by default. Sharing controls apply to the information Crestline adds for the current export; turning off coordinates does not also hide the place name or recognizable content in a photo. For newly added record photos, Crestline keeps a local photo copy without the watermark added by Crestline so share fields can be rendered again according to your choices. Text or identifying content already present in an imported image cannot be removed by these switches. Review the finished image before sending it.

For an older composed photo without that separate copy, turning off any location, coordinate, date, time, or accuracy field switches sharing to a data card without the photo. You can also choose a data card whenever you want to exclude imported image content. Existing source images are not overwritten.

Exports do not copy source-photo GPS metadata; encoding fields such as dimensions and color space may remain.

Crestline keeps the current edit available so you can check Photos permission or free storage and try again. Saving to Photos and adding a photo to a Crestline record are separate actions with separate completion results.

Open the record, choose its actions menu, and select Delete Record. Crestline asks for confirmation before removing the record and its App-managed media. A photo separately saved to your Photos library remains under your control in Photos.

If Settings already shows Plus as unlocked, your entitlement is active and you do not need to restore it again. If Plus is not unlocked, open Crestline Settings, choose Crestline Plus, then Restore Purchases. Use the Apple Account that originally completed the purchase. Apple handles the transaction; Crestline refreshes the entitlement after verification.

Minimal remains free; export quality is not reduced for non-Plus users. A one-time Crestline Plus purchase permanently unlocks Film, Coordinates, Date Card, and future ordinary premium styles. Select a locked premium style to open Plus, or choose Use Free Minimal. Cancelling a purchase keeps your photo and edits. This launch version does not offer rewarded advertisements or new temporary unlocks.

An unexpired unlock from an earlier version remains valid for the original draft and selected style, for one successful export. Unused access expires at its original expiry, no later than 24 hours after it was granted. A failed save does not consume it.

Only copies you saved separately to Photos or elsewhere remain. Taking a photo inside a record does not guarantee an original in Photos. Without another copy, removing it loses that photo.

With a new valid reading, Save Current Altitude creates a record. Without one, Go to Altitude takes you to the measurement screen to obtain a reading first.

If updates stop or a reading expires, Camera, the editor, and watermarked output identify it as Last reading with its timestamp. It is not a new measurement of the current location. Historical records retain their own value and time.

Place names require location, a network connection, and Apple’s service. You can still view available readings and save records without a name. Existing records are not renamed automatically.

Use the system photo picker from Camera or a record’s add-photo flow. Cancelling does not import an image. iCloud photos may need a connection to download.
