Place-name lookup
While location access is permitted and Crestline is in the foreground, Crestline may send the current coordinates and preferred language to Apple's geocoding service to obtain an approximate city, district, or landmark name. This is a network-backed Apple service, not an offline calculation. Crestline does not include your photos, records, measured altitude, heading, or purchase information in this request, and does not send it to an advertising network or Crestline analytics server.
Requests are limited and nearby results are reused briefly in memory. Name lookup may be unavailable without a network connection or service coverage; altitude, coordinates, and saving do not depend on a successful name lookup. Apple's privacy practices apply to its service. Existing records are not retroactively renamed.
1. Information used by features
Crestline may use the following information only when needed for a feature you choose:
- Location while using the app, to calculate altitude, coordinates, location names, and measurement accuracy.
- Motion and barometer information on supported devices, as relative assistance to the location-based altitude reading.
- Camera input when you choose to take a photo.
- Add-only Photos access when you choose to save a finished image to your photo library.
Records, photos, watermarks, settings, and share drafts are processed and stored locally by the current reviewed version of Crestline.
2. Launch version and data processing
This launch version contains no third-party advertising SDK and does not offer rewarded advertisements. It does not initialize Google Mobile Ads or Google UMP, request advertising consent, read IDFA, or request App Tracking Transparency permission. It does not include Firebase Analytics or a third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Crestline keeps a local diagnostic and interaction-event queue for product reliability. This launch configuration has no configured analytics upload service. It does not transmit your precise location, altitude, heading, photos, watermarks, field records, or StoreKit purchase status to a Crestline analytics server or an advertising network. This does not mean all services are offline: Apple provides device services and processes purchases; sharing destinations and this support website have their own data practices.
Apple statistics and crash diagnostics
We use aggregate app statistics and, when available through Apple’s developer tools, crash reports to understand overall app use and diagnose faults. These reports may include app and operating-system versions, device models, technical details, and, depending on the report, diagnostic identifiers. We do not combine them with support email addresses to build individual activity profiles or use them for advertising. Apple’s sharing settings and service rules determine which reports are available. This does not introduce an additional analytics or crash-reporting SDK into Crestline.
3. Sharing and exported images
Precise coordinates are off by default. Sharing controls apply to the information Crestline adds for the current export; turning off coordinates does not also hide the place name or recognizable content in a photo. For newly added record photos, Crestline keeps a local photo copy without the watermark added by Crestline so share fields can be rendered again according to your choices. Text or identifying content already present in an imported image cannot be removed by these switches. Review the finished image before sending it.
For an older composed photo without that separate copy, turning off any location, coordinate, date, time, or accuracy field switches sharing to a data card without the photo. You can also choose a data card whenever you want to exclude imported image content. Existing source images are not overwritten.
Crestline does not copy source-photo GPS metadata into exports. Standard encoding fields, including dimensions and color space, may remain. Text printed in an image is part of its pixels. After you send an image through the iOS share sheet, the receiving service’s privacy practices apply.
System photo picker and maps
Crestline uses Apple’s system photo picker and receives the image you select for editing or adding to a record. Full-library access is not required. Saving a finished image to Photos is a separate action and may require add-only Photos permission. Selected images are processed locally; the system may need to download an image stored in iCloud Photos.
When you choose Open in Maps, Crestline hands the recorded coordinate and, where applicable, a place label to your selected map service. Available options depend on installed apps, and that provider’s privacy practices apply. Turning off location in a shared image does not disable this separately initiated map action.
4. Purchases
Crestline Plus purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Crestline receives the entitlement status needed to unlock purchased features but does not receive your payment-card details. Apple's privacy and transaction practices apply to the purchase itself.
5. Retention and deletion
App-managed records and photos remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Deleting an App-managed record removes its associated App-managed media according to the product flow. Removing Crestline removes its local container, subject to iOS and your device backup settings.
Because Crestline does not maintain a user account or Crestline cloud profile in the current reviewed version, there is no server-side Crestline account record to delete.
Removing a record photo deletes the app-managed photo and its share copy. Only copies you saved separately to Photos remain there. If you have no other copy, the photo will be lost. Copies in device backups, Photos, or sharing destinations must be managed there. Local deletion does not delete information already held by Apple, map services, the website host, or our support mailbox.
6. Your choices and permissions
You can change location, motion, camera, and Photos permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features may be unavailable when the permission they require is disabled. You can also choose which details appear in each share export.
The advertising-only privacy entry is not shown in this launch version because no advertising processing is enabled. The Privacy Policy and system-permission controls remain available. Minimal is free; Crestline Plus permanently unlocks current and future ordinary premium watermark styles. Existing unexpired temporary access from an earlier version is honored for its original photo draft, style, expiry, and single successful export; no new advertising rewards are issued.
7. Children
Crestline is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information through a Crestline server.
8. This website
This static website does not use analytics, advertising scripts, cookies set by Crestline, or contact forms. It is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical information such as an IP address and traffic-routing data for security and service operation under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Crestline's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
